It seems to be my lot in life to reformat my computer. And now the time has come to do it again. Why? Oh, a few niggling problems like Photoshop CS3 suddenly missing its copy-protection (RIGHT) and the “Print Spooler” service missing from my hard drive. And when I try to run a software package for my work, it simply crashes after raising 3 separate errors.
Not long ago I had a strange problem where my computer crashed, and would not run until I used chkdsk to scan the hard drive. Well, as I sat that morning, waiting the 2+ hours for a full scan, I saw as many as 24 different files get deleted due to being either corrupted or orphaned (which is just as bad). Since then I had a second bout with chkdsk and another loss of 10-16 files.
So I don’t know what is missing anymore. I’ve had a number of problems, and really don’t want to find something out by accident. Thus I have begun the trek of backing my data up yet again.
What fun, right?
