GIGO & Psychology

The acronym GIGO means “garbage in, garbage out.” This term originated with computers because they cannot differentiate between good and bad input the way a human can. Or can we?

One of the most basic things you would learn in psychology is that negative statements, and overuse of negatives, makes things hard to understand. I already wrote an article which described this nuance to our minds.

So, put together GIGO and the fact that your subconscious never will fully understand negatives, and what do you get? “I will not lust” becomes “I will lust.”

Doctrines

Magic, the Force, & the Occult Connection

These things are everywhere nowadays, from George Lucas’ acclaimed Star Wars to magic in books like LOTR and the Narnia series. The sad thing is, that many Christians I knew actually read the Harry Potter series and were big fans.

But where does all the information come from about these things? Why, the Devil, of course.

To take one book and rip it apart, the Lord of the Rings novel has a very interesting view of magic. The universal view of good versus bad magic is a Taoist philosophy. If you were to ever embrace this philosophy then God would be good and the Devil would be evil, and both would be peers. Sorry, but God created the Devil and has always had him on a short leash. In addition to the Taoist information, you could easily get interested in trying magic yourself. Most the spells given require either something to react against, a fireball needs a torch, or some kind of enchanted object. And it is this latter method that offends me: it’s strictly occult. A sorcerer, a modern one, would summon a demon and try to get it to give him a power, which is frequently bound to an object. (What they don’t tell you in LOTR is that, if you break the protective circle you die instantaneously.)

Where would Tolkien have gotten these ideas? Oh wow, I just don’t know . . . maybe Aliester Crowley(be wary how far you read about him)? I refuse to tell you what this man believed in full, but he had 666 tattooed on his forehead, started the Gnostic Catholic Church, called himself “the beast” and enjoyed being called the wickedest man on earth. So, if you knew that an author associated regularly with such a person, would you read his works? As a Christian I cannot, nor should you.

George Lucas took his ideas for Star Wars’ “Force” directly from Taoism and Hinduism, the Hindu Guru’s supposedly being able to levitate and use things like telekinesis. Whether or not that is from an occultic power, Hinduism at least uses brainwashing techniques to get you to give all your possessions to the guru—not to mention that the religion focuses wholly upon the worship of sex.

All forms of magic have some grounding in the real-life occult, which does have power. That power simply costs your eternal soul, your life, and perhaps the lives of those around you. As a Christian can you, with a clean conscience, associate in any way with these teachings?

Violence & Masculinity

Unfortunately, nearly all of non-Christian fiction, games, and movies have this problem. These things portray manly men as being hyper-violent, very muscular (or just very deadly), and very intimidating.

Examine this in light of the Bible.

Genesis 9:1,9 (Darby)
And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said to them, Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth.
Whoso sheddeth Man’s blood, by Man shall his blood be shed; for in the image of God he hath made Man.

Verse 1 is the first recorded commandment, it was given in Genesis 1, and is repeated two more times. How can mankind be “fruitful and multiply,” an image of swarming and teeming, if it is manly to be violent? By killing you reduce the number of people on the earth.

Verse 9 gives a law: if you kill, you will be killed. Note the last part, that it was in the image of God that man was made. It is proven that humans do not want to kill humans and must be manipulated into it.1 Is this not in itself a punishment, that the universal guilt (of unconditioned) killers can last a lifetime? Militaries across the globe spend billions finding better ways to condition their soldiers: in WWII only 15-20% of soldiers shot at an exposed enemy; as of Vietnam the number rose to 95%.

Exodus 20:13 (Darby)
Thou shalt not kill.

Other translations use murder, but I like this translation best for this purpose. The word in Hebrew is râtsach, or “kill (a human), especially to murder.” A word-search on this Hebrew word yields some interesting results:

  1. The cities of refuge, for the manslayer, were for those who committed this. In fact, the word manslayer in Numbers 35 is this exact word.
  2. In Judges 20 the story of the murdered concubine, in 20:4, uses this word as “murdered”.
  3. In 1 Kings 21:19 Ahab killed Naboth for his vineyard, which God calls a murder here. He also promises to slay Ahab for this sin, which comes to pass when Ahab eventually goes to war and is slain like a common soldier.
  4. In 2 Kings 6:32 the King of Israel is called the son of a murderer.

So then, unlawful killing is murder. Just about anyone knows that, but what did God say was lawful? According to my knowledge there is only self-defense and God-ordered war, the latter of which no longer happens. (We cannot consult Him and ask if we should attack, and He doesn’t tell us to kill a group any longer.) So then, there’s only defending your home against the robber at night according to the Law.

So, this hyper-violence is often cast as being reasonable, just like in the Bourne movies. However, should you always try to kill people? If the main character hadn’t been an assassin, no one would have attacked him. And throughout the movie, the guy with the biggest body-count and highest machismo is Jason. In spite of that, this has nothing to do with protecting your home and property.

Hyper-violence is a doctrine of evolution and as such has no place in the life of a Christian.

Appearance, Attitude & Feminimity

The appearances commonly promoted by video games are those of very busty, attractive, and promiscuous women—who are supposedly the “norm”. In addition to the obvious problems with this, are the doctrines of God: modest behavior and dress, and chaste behavior. In movies the women are typically portrayed as being attractive and promiscuous, again, and the same problems apply. In books this sometimes is better, but again women are portrayed as being promiscuous. I’ve talked about this several times.2,3

In all, women are portrayed independently from men, fathers, and husbands, and are decidedly feminist. The trouble with the mindset of equality, versus equal value, promoted by feminism I have already addressed.

I’m sorry to say, but I cannot give a full discourse on what the mindset of a godly woman should be. Firstly, I’m a man and therefore typically see what applies to me in a brighter light, than what applies specifically to women. However, there are enough scriptural examples (Titus 2, Proverbs 31, Esther, Ruth) that portray godly womanhood that I don’t see the need to add my words to God’s.

These doctrines have no place in the life or mind of a Christian, and certainly shouldn’t be displayed to men by Christian women. Men, and young men, must abstain from such influencing material.

Anthropomorphous & Genius Animals

It is clear that Man is the center of creation, even if the world isn’t. Mankind is the smartest, and given to rule (dominate, steward) creation for God. As such, animals are inferior in intelligence, have nothing to do with our ancestry, and haven’t more than a basic smattering of intellect. No animal has worked metals into a tool, and therefore they merely improvise and not make tools.

In many movies and books animals are made human-like in appearance, and even similar or greater in intelligence. As though these animals, not we, were rightfully in charge in ages past.

This is the dumbest idea ever.

It’s one thing to use animals in a story for the purposes of the story, but to make them smarter than humans or to equate the natural animals with emotions and human thought is to toy with fire. If you think an animal intelligent, unlike a dog is intelligent, to the point of being nearly equals, you then ascribe them the same rights. I’m not sorry to say that God both made and gave animals for our food, he said as much after the flood. (And why would an omnipotent God design the animals to provide good food when He knew that they would be given as such? Again, another retarded evolutionary philosophy!)

The idea that a human could be completed in soul and mind by an animal, as magical books (by an animal familiar, or companion) have promoted is absolutely heretical.

In Genesis the only thing in creation, as of the sixth day, that is not good is Adam’s loneliness. So God said, “I will make a help meet [worthy, adequate] for him.” And thus came the creation of woman from the rib of Adam. But wait! Rewind! Before Adam has his wife, God had him name all the animals. So, the first man was clearly intelligent: a frog wasn’t a “green hoppitty critter” like someone today might say. And, as told, Man was to take dominion over the earth—part of which was, in my opinion, the naming of the animals. Then Eve comes along and Adam gives her a name, and speaks in prose: “this is now bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh, she shall be woman for she was taken out of man.” It was woman, and woman only, that completed man—not the lesser creatures which he named.

How Much is too Much?

This is where the evidence becomes very clear, and this is the precise reason I named this article, “Satan’s Siren Call”.

Firstly, violent video games have no such control as is imposed by police or military training. All it takes to accustom you to the foreign and ungodly idea of murder is to play Doom. The US Marine Corps used this game in the past, they have newer ones now, to condition their soldiers. Doom never did take much skill and rewarded planning, and its pixelated appearance didn’t hinder it a bit. So, why did the firing rate (on exposed enemy soldiers) for from 15-20% in WWII to 95% in Vietnam? They converted from bull’s-eye targets to the newer silhouette targets, the human shape was all that it took to condition soldiers to the idea of killing.

Indeed, the military and police drill soldiers so hard to kill in only a certain situation, so much so that in training a person can be fired, court marshaled, or punished just for doing the wrong thing. When you go to the arcade there is no such inhibition, and even less with what you allow in your home. You insert quarters, or the CD/DVD, and start blowing off fake heads . . . much to the shock, and eventual, unstoppable acceptance, of your subconscious. The only “cure” for someone being conditioned like this is to avoid all such desensitizing material. For soldiers and police who’ve fired to kill, there may be no cure ever.

The answer to video game violence: any violence with your personal involvement is too much. For movies and books, any unjust or unlawful violence is too much except in the villain (who must be punished for it_). See the [full-length preview of Game OverPreview.html], though I suggest you avoid watching the part about busty women in games (though listening to it is fine). If non-Christians can find, diagnose, and point out this problem, then we Christians had best embody godliness and avoid this trash!

Secondly, the immodest attitude of many of today’s women—thanks to the darwinist-feminist culture around us—has seeped into even the most conservative of churches. This plague of desiring independence, and so rebelling against God and their Fathers, has born fruit frequently: it is estimated that over 50% of all premarital sex within a church happens within its youth groups. Even the Greek myth of Eros, love, has been embraced by the movies, games, and books of today. To quote a Baptist preacher, Voddie Baucham, “Love is an act of the will accompanied by emotion on behalf of its object.” You can learn to love, but when addicted to, brainwashed to, or encouraged (in any way) to lust and have unsafe emotions this supposed love is entirely destructive.

Thirdly, the magic given in such materials is highly deceptive and of a totally evil source. Even the magic that empowers the hero comes from an evil source: there is no such thing as white magic. Anything that even remotely condones the use of magic or the “force” is occult, and suited only to the fires of destruction. These things only lead to Satan and his chains.

Fourth, the attitudes portrayed by culture today invents the mindset of “adolescentism,” which comes from an ungodly mindset of evolutionism. Evolutionists wrote, in the early 1900’s, that a child goes through evolution not merely in the womb (which was forged anyway) but through the mind, therefore you don’t want to group the Homo Erectus with Java Man or Homo Habilus! There are children, and there are adults; anything in between is in transition only, but should already looked at as the member of the new group.

In Conclusion

The two most base, disgusting, and irritating men of the 20th century are George Lucas and Tolkien, who have both touched billions of souls with their corrosive soul-toxic poisons. Second only to these men is C.S. Lewis, also an associate of Tolkien (who was his mentor) and of Aliester Crowley. None of the works of any of these three authors can be construed to be allegory! Elements may be like allegory, or there may be a tidbit of wisdom . . . but “even the devil appears as an angel of light.”

There must be no quarter, no compromise in the conquering of our souls and hearts and minds. For this purpose I have thrown away in excess of $1,500 worth in games and will be selling my gaming computer, I will tear my bookshelf to shreds and remove the inappropriate books that I have. A friend of mine has also eschewed 99.98% of his games, and thrown away over $1,500 worth in games. Between the two of us we might have 3 games left, in place of more than 150.

I read LOTR recently because of how many times it has been mentioned in things that I’ve read, and I just wanted to put it to rest. The trouble isn’t that it is boring, stupid, dull, or even outright wrong—unless you look at the moral relativism it promotes, and the fact that it is written so well that I started enjoying it. And, if I can read and enjoy a book about occultic beings, practices, and spells and be entertained that disturbs me! Please, believe a brother and avoid these things like you would the black death.

There is no fictional utopia, only heaven. And if you miss it for some earthly, corrupt dream then you’re the biggest self-deceived fool of all. . . just as I have been.
